Back to the Community Pic

This is the clarion call for the church universal! We need to get back INTO the community… But it won’t be the same way as in the past.

If you look at the average church congregation, you will notice that the vast majority of the believers are sitting in the pews!  Over 90% of the people in the Body of Christ are NOT “ordained”…aka… vocational pastors…making a living through full-time ministry.

What are the vast majority of these folks supposed to be doing?  Well, if you’ve read some of my previous blog articles, you will see that I refer to them as: “Marketplace Ministers”…11/12th Kings and Priests…fully ordained by God with special giftings to bring the Kingdom of God to where they have the greatest influence on a regular basis; in their businesses, jobs, homes, school, etc.  THAT is their “full-time” ministry!

So why do so many not live like this?  I believe it’s because many of those in vocational ministry have not understood God’s mandate to equip those in the pews to do the work of the ministry.

And He [God] Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,  for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,  till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;   Ephesians 4:11-13

It’s pretty clear isn’t it?  But rather than pointing fingers… or blaming, let’s work on FIXING the problem!  Because, in the final analysis, it really is OUR responsibility to learn for OURSELVES what the will of God is for our life.  What gifts He has given us.  What calling He has placed on our lives.
And I [Jesus] will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate [Holy Spirit] to help you and be with you forever—  John 14:16

But you have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true–it is not a lie. So just as He has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
1 John 2:27

Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is—what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.
Romans 12:2

Concerning this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull and sluggish in [your spiritual] hearing and disinclined to listen.  For though by this time you ought to be teachers [because of the time you have had to learn these truths], you actually need someone to teach you again the elementary principles of God’s word [from the beginning], and you have come to be continually in need of milk, not solid food.  For everyone who lives on milk is [doctrinally inexperienced and] unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a spiritual infant.  But solid food is for the [spiritually] mature, whose senses are trained by practice to distinguish between what is morally good and what is evil.  Hebrews 5:11-14 AMP

I love this about God!  Here it is in black and white… and written a couple thousand years ago to the early church.  And why?  Because they too, like us, get away from His way of doing things.  If they got off track so quickly, how far off could we be?!?

Let’s not get discouraged by all this… in fact we should be EXCITED!

Think about it… YOU are just as ordained and anointed as those in the “four wall church”!  In fact, because of the UNIQUE ministry you have been called to, you not only minister to those around you, but you also pay for the “four wall church” ministers to do what they do!  How special is that!?!

So let’s cast off the lies that we have believed about our gifts and callings.  Let’s start renewing our mind by asking the Holy Spirit to teach us.  Start banding together with like-minded people who already have started to live out their calling in the marketplace.  And let’s start to bring the Kingdom of God to where we are- day to day!
